A long weekend in our garden!

As we have a long weekend here in Belgium and the weather forecast is very promising, we certainly will enjoy our garden!

Tomorrow Jan will finish some jobs that have to be done in our garden. He wil lay bricks for a flight of steps, add some gravel to the paths and will start the lay out of our vegetable garden! But that’s for tomorrow! Today we will relax and enjoy our garden.

So I decided to share with you some pictures of our garden I took the passed weeks.

We moved in our house 4 years ago (June 2007) and we are very pleased to watch growing all the flowers, plants and trees we planted the passed years.

To decorate with old garden roses

I am so proud to show you these pictures of the beautiful roses of our garden. We planted 3 types of old Bourbon roses in September last year and I am so pleased to be able to decorate our home with our own wonderful old garden roses this year!

We planted the Honorine de Brabant, the Madame Isaac Pereire and the Ulrich Brunner roses. They are all blooming at this moment and I will show you pictures of them in our garden later.

I have to thank Trish of Trouvais for her help to choose the right roses! Trish is a connoisseur of old garden roses! She already posted wonderful posts of her garden roses on her blog.

This is the Ulrich Brunner Bourbon rose. She is so beautiful and her leaves feel as velvet!

Summer in our garden!

Here in Belgium it will be a wonderful long weekend! The weather will be great!!

So I am in the mood for relaxing in our garden !

And…time for a barbecue party!!!

This morning sunshine was early and I couldn’t resist taking some sunny pictures of our garden.

Foto 161 22 mei 2010 In earlier posts I told you about the landscaping of our garden we started last year and on which we were further working in spring this year.

As you can notice we are not finished yet!!!  In the picture above you see the spaces were we have to plant flowers. On the right site I would love to have a lot of old French roses, because roses make me happy! They do! And on the right site, close to the outbuilding I want something else. I am still looking to find the right flowers of plants.

We are so happy with the plane-trees we planted last year. Look at them now! They are still very young but won’t they be beautiful within a few years?

Now you can see where we will spend our weekend.

I asked my friend Trish from TROUVAIS some information about roses because she is a rose lady and she knows a lot about antique French roses. You really should visit her post ANTIQUE FRENCH GARDEN ! Beautiful!

She was so nice mailing me a few of her favorite roses that I posted here beyond.

Thank you so much Trish!

For Lene

This post is dedicated to my friend Lene from the blog THE ESSENCE OF THE GOOD LIFE. Lene is recovering from surgery and came home from hospital now since a few days.

Because flowers are always a source of energy to me, I would love to post some images of decorating with flowers especially for Lene!
